Seafood Festival Activities

In addition to seafood, entertainment, and arts and crafts vendors, the Pensacola Seafood Festival offers a number of additional activities throughout the weekend.

* Local artist Joan Blackburn, who created the artwork for the festival, will be available to sign posters at the gazebo in Seville Square. Joan Blackburn, originally from Loxley, AL., is a well-known Pensacola artist, teacher, juror and judge. Her painting “Catch of the Day” will be available for sale for $25 at the official merchandise booth during the 2009 Pensacola Seafood Festival. Signing times are as follows: Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

*The Pensacola Seafood Grille features cooking demonstrations in Seville Square near the gazebo. Local chefs share their secrets for preparing your favorite Gulf Coast seafood. Coordinated by Energy Services of Pensacola. The Fiesta Seafood Grille is sponsored by Distinctive Kitchens.

Meet local chefs whose recipes appear in the brand new Fiesta Seafood Cookbook: A Taste of Pensacola cookbook which features 14 years of outstanding seafood recipes from cooking demonstrations at the Pensacola Seafood Festival.  These fantastic chefs will be prepared to sign cookbooks which will be available for purchase throughout the weekend. Proceeds from cookbook sales benefit the Escambia Utility Assistance Program.

*The 2009 Redfish Cup Championship returns to the Emerald Coast for its final stop of the 2009 season during the 32nd annual Pensacola Seafood Festival where the nation’s best anglers will battle for saltwater supremacy in the 2009 Redfish Cup Championship. In this season-culminating event, 20 two-man teams will fish for a $40,000 cash purse and ultimate bragging rights. All 20 teams will fish Friday and Saturday with the top five teams’ cumulative weights from day one and day advancing to the final day on Sunday. The daily weigh-ins will take place at 3 p.m. on the Redfish Cup stage in Bartram Park. Come cheer on local favorites Sonny Granger and Jake Matney and Eric Holstman and partner Eric Taylor (Rockledge, Fla.). The Redfish Cup will also announce the winning team in the Academy Team of the Year presented by Crocs race. The Redfish Cup teams accumulate Team of the Year points based on their final placement in the four regular-season tournaments. The Academy Team of the Year awards the winning team $10,000.

*Splash Dogs Competition is a dock jumping competiion for dogs. Pets compete for distance, diving from a dock into a 25 foot pool. Competitive dogs are ONLY allowed in Pensacola News Journal Pelican Park (Bartram Park) at 211 Bayfront Parkway. To enter the competition, visit the Splash Dogs Web site here.

*Children may wish to visit the children's area in Bartram Park to enjoy fun-filled activities designed with them in mind. Babin House of Party will be hosting the children's area in Pensacola News Journal Pelican Park (Bartram Park). Click here to visit Babin House of Party online. The area will be open Friday, Noon to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy crafts, games, face painting and more. The famous Candy Cannon will shoot candy daily throughout the weekend.


The Fiesta of Five Flags is donating half of the children’s area net proceeds to the Gulf Coast Kids House. The mission of the Gulf Coast Kids House is to facilitate the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse and neglect and promote child abuse prevention awareness through community education.
